Gwen - original oil pastel nude painting

This fairly quick drawing is oil pastel on Colourfix paper, 9 x 12".  Didn't have time to smooth things out, so it's still a little raw - the way I like it.  Thanks so much for looking!

Nude with a Flowered Screen - original oil pastel nude painting

This nude is painted on 5 x 7" Pastelbord.  This was a tough pose to hold - the model never actually sat on the floor, so she didn't hold it for long and we just did quick gesture drawings and the gesture drawing was what I worked from on this piece.   I'm such a fan of blue and green - love to paint with these colors and love to wear them.  I've been watching "Hinterland" which has so much blue and some green, as well.  I adore it - yes, the story is good and the acting, as well, but the blue - ahhhh! Thanks for looking!

Nude on Blues - original oil pastel nude painting

Today's offering is a nude that I did with creamy Sennelier oil pastels on 7 x 5" Pastelbord.  Love doing these quick exercises!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Nude with Arms Raised - original oil painting of a nude

This nude is done from a life drawing that I posted a while back and just now got around to painting.  I know one is supposed to paint no matter the lack of inspiration, but I just can't!!!  Must wait 'til the stars are in the right position, etc., so I can get going on some of these projects that have been languishing.  The pose couldn't have been easy for the model - keeping one's arms raised can get pretty tough after a bit.  As I recall, we didn't take the full time.  I love being in a group where the other artists respect the model - have been in some groups that didn't, so I didn't go back there.  This is on 14 x 11" paintboard.  Thanks for looking!

The Nude in Watermedia - original painting of a nude in watermedia

This painting is one that I did from an old drawing while I was watering the lawn at my studio.  We can water twice a week and this was my day.   Having been away for several days, it was nice to be back  -  there's no place like studio!   I used mostly watercolor sticks with touches of pan watercolors, and a couple of ink lines.   It's about 11 x 17" on Yupo.  Thanks for stopping by!

On My Easel - Stick Oil Paint Nude

This painting, which I'm doing with oil sticks; yes, those really juicy - but tough to get details with - oil sticks (but they certainly encourage painting in a loose manner). I am really enjoying working on this painting and will probably pull out the painting knives.  I've used mostly R&F Pigment Sticks, which I think are the kings of the oil stick world.   My drawing Sketch for Josie on the Sofa is the inspiration for this one.
If you have a chance, stop by my oil pastel blog  to see what's going on there.  Thank you so much for visiting Hackberry Street Studio!

On My Easel - original oil paintings of nudes by Connie Chadwell

"Morning" (oil) has SOLD
Here are a couple of paintings - one is the finished oil version of the oil pastel "Morning" and I am very happy with the way it turned out. The other is the beginning of one of my "Ana" drawings translated to oil. Tomorrow I will probably post a bar scene - lots going on at Hackberry Street Studio. Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Little Pout - original oil nude painting by Connie Chadwell

The model was wonderful and I loved her pout. She wasn't angry at all - she just had this great expression on her face.

I painted this from a drawing that I did in a life drawing group. Maybe it's just me, but I think it's easy to get hung up on one area when not drawing from life and then end up killing the painting, so I tried to go quickly. Hope I didn't overwork it!

This painting is 7 x 5" on Gessobord. Thanks so much for dropping by Hackberry Street Studio!
